Each subject property is located in the Greater Toronto Area specifically within a 90-minute driving distance from the CN Tower. WH operates within this geographic area exclusively as its real estate is the most stable and liquid in the country and holds its value over time.
Unlike federal banks or other financial institutions, WH is selective in the type of property it uses in its security class. As a result, the Company will not lend against real estate classes such as condominiums, duplexes or industrial property types. WH will only lend against residential single-family detached homes in well-maintained and marketable condition. This has been engraved in our culture as these property types are the forefront of a stable and liquid loan portfolio.
Property valuations are originated, supported and prepared by an independent and third party real estate valuator that is approved by the federal banks and completed in compliance with the current Canadian Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (CUSPAP 2015).
